Welcome to the Diablo II Information/Strategy Compendium, by shub-internet.

Portions of this guide have been taken from other guides and/or articles, are used with permission, and are properly accredited.

While this thing is still in progress, I'd love to hear any input that people have. Think my formatting sucks? I forgot a useful application of a skill? I've got incorrect data? You want to write something for the compendium? Tell me about it and I'll see what I can do.

3/24/01: The initial "format check" of the guide. There is some data on Attack Modifiers, Overhead Status effects, and the classes Amazon and Paladin, just so you guys can see the format I'm considering and comment on it.

The FAQ is another page, but here are some intro questions that are worth putting up.

Q: Who the heck are you?

A: Just another Diablo II player. I started playing the weekend that it came out; my friends and I had a LAN we called "The Day of Diablo" where the five of us played for about 24 hours straight, taking breaks only for sleep and meals, and then we managed to get to the end of Normal difficulty. And of course, our first characters all sucked, but anyways.. I stopped playing for a while, and now that I'm back, I think that it's time for someone to make a cross-referenced guide to all the great information that different players have amassed.

Q: Who is XYZ?

A: Let's see. Jarulf wrote the original guide for Diablo I, which outstrips this pathetic compendium in so many ways it's embarassing. Addiction published the statistics guide for Diablo II, portions of which are referenced in this compendium. Icemage, Targetam, -Z-, and others are Amazon forum regulars at DiabloII.Net who provided invaluable assistance to me when I came back to Diablo; Targetam is also currently the person providing hosting for this compendium. Vehementi wrote the original Bowazon guide, followers of which are now known as "Dinozons" because of our obsolete play style; hey, that's what happens before all the facts are known.
